Drakewalls Mine

Drakewalls, Calstock, Cornwall, UK

A historic mixed metals mine worked for tin, copper, arsenic and other ores.

Showing the single result

Mindat lists 20 minerals from the site including various tin and tungsten ores. Several ruins remain on the site, very close to the Tamar Valley visitors centre.

Cornwall Calling provides an excellent history of the mines owners between 1847 and 1918, also claiming there may be some mining history at the site as early as the 11th century.

The Archaeology Data Service provides a short historical description of the site with considerable information on modern archaeological work at the site – however, it is a 23 page PDF file!
