Wheal Carpenter

Fraddam, Gwinear-Gwithian, Cornwall, England, UK

A small mine working for copper, tin, and silver ores. Abandoned and reclaimed.

No products were found matching your selection.

Pretty much all the reputable sources I could find state that the mine was worked between 1792 until 1798, then sometime in the early 1800s until 1818, then again from 1850 to 1855.

The mine is the type locality for one species, Cornubite – named for the medieval Latin name for Cornwall, Cornubia.

Mindat lists 22 mineral species from the site.

As the site is now completely reclaimed it is unlikely any further specimens will come to market; we will be forced to rely on older collections!
