Holmbush Mine

Callington United Mines (incl. Emmens United Mines), Stokeclimsland, Cornwall, England, UK

Holmbush Mine was a former lead mine worked as a part of the Callington United Mines.

Mindat lists 30 minerals from the site – mostly lead minerals, but the site is well known for phenomenal micromounts of fluorapatite and siderite.

The carbonate rich fluorapatite is sometimes known as francolite or holmbushite and occurs as fine sprays of acicular crystals, from white to an off-yellow.

Both names are synonyms for carbonate rich fluorapatite and I prefer not to use them.

There are several good writeups of the site linked below, including the town councils heritage walk leaflet.
