Pentireglaze Mine

Polzeath, St Minver, Cornwall, England, UK

Pentireglaze Mine is a former lead and silver mine near to Polzeath.

Mindat lists fourteen minerals from the site, particularly lead minerals.

The entire headland is part of a SSSI for geology and rare plants, so it is unlikely any further specimens can reasonably be collected.

There are two very nearby mines, Pentire Mine and Pentireglaze Mine – sometimes known as the Pentire Glaze and Pentire United Silver-Lead Mines.

It closed in 1857 with the engine house finally being demolished in the 1950s. Waste dumps from the site are now a National Trust car park known as the Lead Mines car park; whether anything is visible from this site I can’t say.
