Penpol smelter slag locality

Penpol, Feock, Cornwall, England, UK

A former tin and lead smelter, abandoned around 1905.

Mindat lists only three minerals from the site – cumengeite, laurionite, and mammothite. The minerals are extremely small, and magnification is essential for specimens from this location. Frankly, even seeing them is difficult with the naked eye.

These are all lead minerals which typically occur as a secondary mineral as a result of lead smelting. Specimens from these locales will come on a piece of smelting slag.
