Gravel Hill Mine

Perran Iron Lode, Perranzabuloe, Cornwall, England, UK

A former iron mine exploiting the western end of the Perran Iron lode, which was worked as early as 1724.

There are numerous shafts around the site, as well as evidence of two engine houses.

Mindat lists 30 minerals from the site including Ferroberaunite, for which it is the type locality. It also produces some uncommon iron minerals, including rockbridgeite and strengite.

The mine was formerly known as the Penhale Iron Mine, or the Cliff Iron Mine.

The Scottish Geology Trust has a great writeup of the site, in far more detail than I will post here!
