Tolvadden Mine

Marazion, Cornwall, England, UK

A former copper mine and dump sites – the mine now filled in and reclaimed.

Mindat lists 10 mineral species from the site – mostly typical ore minerals – brochanthite, cassiterite, chalcopyrite, connellite, cuprite, delafossite, goethite, malachite, quartz, siderite.

The site appears to have been worked between 1857 and 1866.

This mine (Tolvadden Mine) should not be confused with Tolvaddon Mine – later known as Wheal Emily Henrietta.

It’s only a single letter difference and on a handwritten label that only lists “Tolvadden/Tolvaddon Mine, Cornwall”, this could be tricky.
