Lanterdan Quarry

Treknow, Tintagel, Cornwall, England, UK

Lanterdan quarry is an abandoned slate quarry with some interesting mineralisation.

The site produced interesting specimens of Rutile var. Sagenite.

The site may have been worked as early as the 15th century, and may have been worked into the 20th. This makes it the oldest of Tintagels coastal quarries, as well as the largest.

Numerous visible and  part buried buildings are still visible at the site, as are the remains of tramways used to dispose of waste slate.
