Fluorite and Calcite specimens

Specimen pieces of Fluorite and Calcite, a classic combination of minerals which tend to be of contrasting colours.

In the UK, fine Fluorite/Calcite combinations are found in the Weardale area. More recently some fine specimens have been coming out of China.

Our current stock includes:

Specimens from Skardu, Pakistan

• #1 - 50.5x40.7x26.8MM - an interesting piece of dark grey-purple cubic Fluorite with numerous white-clear Calcite crystals. Under UV light you can see that the Fluorite contains some inclusions of hydrocarbons but these are not visible in normal light.

Specimens from Weardale, UK

• #2 - 50x42.4x26.6MM - a really rather nice piece consisting of milky white Calcite over two partial Fluorite cubes. Very reactive to 365nm UV.
