Rough Blue Calcite

Lovely quality pieces of rough blue Calcite. While these pieces are sold as 'rough', they have been acid washed, which produces a slightly smooth surface with better colour than true rough Calcite as it would be found in nature.

These pieces are sold in 100 gram packets - except for occasional larger pieces which are sold by weight. In the 100g packets, the pieces are reasonably small, measuring around 20-50MM each. A pack is generally 2-4 pieces.

When buying items by weight: In some instances, 100 grams may contain 1-3 pieces; however, an order of 500 grams may contain 1-2 much larger pieces. If you require a specific size, please get in touch before ordering to ensure we can supply sized pieces.

Calcite is a reasonably soft mineral, and as such, it makes an ideal stepping stone into lapidary for beginners. It can be worked wet or dry and takes an excellent polish. They can easily be cut into cabochons or carved into decorative objects.

Most of the brightly coloured acid-washed Calcite on the market comes from Mexico, with some also coming from Madagascar - these 100 gram packets are mixed, from whereever we were able to get pieces at the right price.
