Hafan Mine

Tal-y-bont, Ceulanymaesmawr, Ceredigion, Wales, UK

A historic lead, zinc, and copper ore mine on the banks of the Nant-Y-Moch reservoir.

The history of the mine is quite difficult to come by as it was worked in association with another local mine. Its first known working was in 1620.

Despite this, Buddlepit has a good writeup – linked below in the further reading section.

Various other periods of operation include 1850-1854, 1857, 1897-1900.

Mindat lists 13 minerals from the site, mostly lead and copper ores.

The site may also be known by any of the following names, depending on the age of the specimen:

  • Caninog
  • Coninog
  • Kaninog
  • Canninog Mine
  • Bwlch Canninog Mine
