Opalised shell fossils from Australia, typically from Coober Pedy, one of the best known opalfields in the country.

These pieces are generally a good example of a fossilised shell - you can almost always tell the shape of the shell, and some are quite detailed.

These pieces do not all have 'play of colour' or any flash, but some do. If you want to try and spot any, make sure to view the shells wet, as they are not polished.
