Laurium Mine

Laurium mine was an underground copper mine in the well known Keweenaw Copper Mining District.

The Laurium mine originally opened in 1907 and closed in around 1920.

It still has large spoil heaps, which are popular with micromount mineral collectors, particularly of copper minerals.

Minerals listed from the site include Analcime, Baryte, Calcite, Chalcocite, native Copper, Cuprite, Epidote, Hematite, Malachite, Pumpellyite, Quartz, and native Silver
