Woolly Mammoth Tusk Ivory pieces

Small pieces of Woolly Mammoth tusk ivory, from the Pleistocene period.

They are very fragile, and have a texture and consistency like very old bone, or chalk. They will either need to be sealed in something - superglue, epoxy, etc; or left as a display item and not handled.

These pieces are found in the UK, believe it or not! We only sell Mammoth Ivory from the UK, where it is typically found in chalk pits, or washed up from the North Sea.

Our current stock includes a few special pieces:

  • #1 - 180x50MM - a fragment from the inside of a tusk. Untreated.
  • #2 - 166x46x15MM - a very nice fragment from the outside of a tusk. This piece has been lacquer treated, probably with dilute superglue. One end is saw cut, unfortunately.

The pictures you see here are representative of the products and are usually not the exact item you will receive. Where various grades are available we do try to photograph each grade - but some photographs are still on their way!
