Ice Age Fossils

Ice age fossils are the remains of plants and animals that lived during the last ice age, which occurred between 2.6 million and 11,700 years ago.

During this time, much of the Earth’s surface was covered in ice which did not melt with the seasons, creating a year round cold climate.

Many animals had adapted to the cold in unique ways, the most famous of which would be the woolly mammoths and woolly elephants.
