Pretty amazing to think about, really – these are fossilised and preserved teeth from ice-age Woolly Mammoths.

Woolly Mammoth teeth, surprisingly, can be found in a few places worldwide - they are not just limited to the Siberian and Canadian permafrosts. I actually don't buy any Siberian teeth, as much of the mining/collection is illegal.
In the UK, they are sometimes found in quarries; but they can also be dredged from the North Sea, between the UK and the Netherlands/Holland - an area that was once known as Doggerland or Dogger Bank. This is where the majority of my stock comes from - sometimes from UK and sometimes from NL fishermen or their agents.
Our current stock includes:
- #1 - 18x13x9CM approximately, weighing 1.9KG. This tooth was dredged from the North Sea before being desalinated and preserved, probably with Paraloid. This has left it stable and given it a little bit of a varnished look which helps to bring out the colours. It is an incomplete tooth, missing parts of the roots and some of the grinding face too.
