Rhodochrosite and Quartz specimens

Our current stock includes:

Various specimens from Liubao town, Wuzhou, Guangxi, China. These specimens are potentially from the famous Wutong mine but I cannot confirm this.

These are really quite nice little specimens, Rhodochrosite crystals in association with fine Quartz crystals and often occurring with well defined Pyrite cubes and crystals.

All of these specimens have a rough cut back/base which is not the best looking unfortunately.

  • #1 - 49x47.3x29.5MM - a very nice piece with a flat cut base. It features several pale pink Rhodochrosite crystals with a huge amount of mini Quartz crystals. There are also some pyrite cubes and an unidentified pale greenish mineral, possibly fluorapatite.
  • #2 - 50.7x39.5x40.1MM - several pale pink Rhodochrosite crystals sitting on a Quartz matrix amid druzy Quartz points. There is some iron staining to some of the Quartz and some of the Rhodochrosite.
  • #3 - 38.9x32.4x31.5MM - poorly defined Rhodochrosite amongst a cluster of Quartz points, with Quartz heavy matrix rock.
  • #4 - 38.5x36.3x23.5MM - a single defined Rhodochrosite crystal sitting in a sea of micro Quartz points with some minor Pyrite.
  • #5 - 41x34x24.4MM - quite a nice looking piece - one larger Rhodochrosite crystal sitting on a bed of Quartz and Pyrite, with many fine micro Quartz points.
  • #6 - 34.2x33.3x29MM - a pale Rhodochrosite crystal amidst micro Quartz points; unfortunately the matrix of this piece has been cut in a way which makes it hard to display without seeing a 'cut face'.
  • #7 - 36.8x32.5x22.6MM - finely defined Quartz points and plenty of Pyrite surround a poorly defined Rhodochrosite crystal which has some iron staining.
  • #8 - 34.34x23.9x18.7MM - a fantastic little piece - plenty of fine Quartz points, plenty of Pyrite, and a reasonably well defined Rhodochrosite crystal.
  • #9 - 38x35.5x32.8MM - another specimen where the cutting of the matrix leaves a little to be desired - this is a nice piece with good definition to the Rhodochrosite and Quartz, but it is difficult to display without an obvious cut face showing.
  • #10 - 67.3x53.9x32.9MM - a slightly larger specimen - a mass of pale pink Rhodochrosite atop a matrix covered with white Quartz, clear Quartz points, and a decent amount of Pyrite.
