Lovely polished Yowah nut opal specimens from Australia, measuring between 50 and 90MM long approximately.

These pieces are found around the town of Yowah, in Queensland. It is a very small mining town with many small mines operating around it.

Our Yowah nut opal specimens all contain some play of colour. Because of the dark matrix around the Opal they do contrast very well.

The Iron bearing ore around the Opal is polished to a fine shine and really does complete these pieces. There isn't too much precious Opal in these specimens, of course - you can buy gem quality pieces but they are far more expensive.

As these are in an iron containing matrix, the stones are quite a bit heavier than you'd expect.
