Marston Marble Ammonites, polished
Marston Marble – a mudstone from Somerset with contrasting Ammonite fossils and Calcite veins.
Polished Marston Marble Ammonite fossils
Lovely quality specimens of the 'marble' from Marston Magna - a form of mudstone from Somerset with contrasting black and white Ammonite fossils embedded.
It is tremendously popular and is rather a collectors piece in the UK, where sadly availability seems to be diminishing.
The material often contains veins of yellow-brown Calcite, which is usually fluorescent under 365nm light.
