Garnet crystals in Biotite Mica

Specimen pieces consisting of garnet crystals in a biotite mica; a relatively common mineral combo.

As a general rule, they consist of dark red almandine garnet in a dark green-black biotite matrix, which doesn't make for the most stand out mineral display, but in some cases the garnets do really pop out.

This material typically comes from Germany or Norway but we can't always guarantee the source when we buy from older collections.
