Dendritic Sandstone cabochons
Unique and interesting, these dendritic sandstone cabochons are probably not the first thing you think of for jewellery.
While they are extremely interesting, and rather attractive, there are drawbacks - they are fragile. Jewellery should be designed to protect the cabochon, and your client should be made aware that the front of the cabochon can be easily scratched. More suitable for a pendant or a brooch than a ring, I would think.
Dendrites are branching manganese crystals which often grow over, or just under the surface of another material. They are surface only - not all the way through, so any damage to the surface will destroy them. I find dendrites fascinating - how closely they resemble other natural features like branching river deltas, lightning, or plant life.
Currently we only have a single cabochon in stock.
- #1 - 53.5x31x4.8MM, a teardrop shape with the front face covered in dendrites.
