Abalone Cabochons – also known as Paua Cabochons
The pictures say it all really; Abalone cabochons are absolutely stunning. We sell these lovely shell cabs in a few colours – natural, and bright dyed tones.
These are cut from Abalone or Paua shells, a very popular material. Paua is the name given to this material in and around New Zealand. It is a different member of the same family, and looks very similar. It is incredibly popular with tourists and with the native Maori people.
Ideal for setting into rings, earrings, necklaces or pendants. Perhaps these shell pieces will be suitable for lower temperature polymer clays, too.
The larger pieces may suit the wire wrappers among you. However, please bear in mind that Abalone is a shell, and is therefore quite brittle – these cabs are quite thin, too.
The pictures you see here are representative of the products and are usually not the exact item you will receive. Where various grades are available we do try to photograph each grade – but some photographs are still on their way!
