Mining is a rather large part of Mexican GDP – 2.4% as of 2023. Mexico is a large supplier of various metals, including silver, copper, gold and zinc.
There are quite a few well known mineral specimens from Mexico, many of which will be recognised by collectors.

Also well worth a mention is the brightly coloured calcite from Coahuila, Mexico, which can be found relatively cheaply online in a range of colours including blues, greens, oranges and reds. This material is often acid-treated to enhance its colour, which leaves it with a waxy surface texture.
