Force Crag Mine may also sometimes be known as Force Craig Mine.

It was worked from 1839 to 1865 for lead, and from 1867 for zinc and barytes.

There are mill and mine buildings on the site, built in 1908-1909, still containing the ore refining machinery from the 1980s. The site closed in 1991.

Force Crag Mine is now owned by the National Trust. It is a scheduled ancinet monument and a geological SSSI. Some visiting the site may be possible as part of a booked tour, via the NT.

The National Trust link below does offer a great writeup of the mine with ore qualities, amounts extracted, and a long series of references and sources.

The Scottish Geology Trust writeup is also well worth a look!
