Mindat lists 61 mineral species from the locale. It is the most visited mineral deposit in Catalonia.

The quarry closed in 2019 having been worked off and on since Roman times or earlier. There were some discussions about filling the quarry with landfill, but as of 2022 it seems that the local council will turn the quarry into a geology park and visitors centre.

The green fluorite from the site is particularly prized by Catalan mineral collectors.
