Interesting stuff these, although some people hate them. Clear Topaz is cut and faceted, and then plated with a very thin layer of various metals to produce a rainbow sheen effect.

Some people consider plated stones to be misleading, and it should always be explained to customers that these are altered and not naturally occurring in this form. Realistically the plating is a way of adding value to clear Topaz which does not produce as much commercial interest as the coloured forms.
