Pyrite from Navajún, La Rioja, Spain
Pyrite specimens from Navajún, Spain.
These pieces are in a marlstone matrix, often with light green nodules of chamosite.
These specimens are often cubic, but can be decagonal, and are sometimes altered cubes too - rounded off, or with curved edges.
Several should be considered thumbnail or micro sized specimens, with very small pyrite crystals - some have much larger crystals.
It is very common for crystals to be glued back into the matrix from this locale. None of these are - they are all natural and unrepaired - in fact, many crystals fell out while they were in transit, being trimmed, etc.
