Polyhedral Agate specimens from Paraiba, Brazil
An incredible rarity, these 'polyhedral' Agate specimens come from one small area of Brazil.
They are naturally shaped like this - these have not been cut or shaped (except for the sliced polished section on the front). The prevailing theory is that these Agate geodes formed inside the voids left by crisscrossing Calcite crystals, which were then dissolved by water or similar.
There are numerous experienced mineral collectors online claiming that several of the areas these specimens were collected from are now flooded, and it does seem to be extremely difficult to get a hold of them.
Our current stock includes:
- #1 - 122x54x34MM, from Paraiba. Some parts have a slight yellow-orange fluorescence under UV. The inner void contains a botryoidal white mineral that resembles clouds.
- #2 - 86.5x47.5x20MM, from Paraiba. No fluorescence in this piece. The inner void contains what look like Quartz crystals. This piece also has some damage to the right end.
