Polished Picture Stone Slices

Polished Picture Stone slices, various types of stone well known for their unusual graphic appearance, which looks almost like a desert landscape.

Each slice is polished on the front and make excellent display pieces.

These were previously sold as Picture Jasper, but that is a trade name - we are trying to avoid using those where possible. This material is often a dendritic layered siltstone from China, not a form of Jasper. However, there are some others worldwide - Canada, Morocco, etc - rhyolites and mudstones. It's difficult to keep track sometimes!

The material is sometimes also known as "Picture Jasper" or "Kalahari Picture Stone", and 'Picture stone' is itself a trade name - however, we are trying to avoid using any trade names which misuse the name of another mineral.

We originally sold these slices for cabochon cutters. However, I feel that collectors may be interested in polished slices of minerals too!

Our current stock includes:

• An interesting type of picture stone I haven't seen before, from Morocco. It looks similar to Mookaite, but is an entirely different material.
