Lead glass filled Ruby specimens

Small pieces of lead glass filled Ruby from Mozambique, intended as study specimens.

Lead glass is used to fill small fissures in the Ruby, adding value. These pieces have also been heated to enhance their colour.

We are selling these for gemology students and classes - they are a decent study piece to spot common treatments.

They are entirely rough, so it is very easy to spot the glass - when cut, it becomes more difficult. We recommend cutting and polishing one side of the stone to give you both options, and so you can examine the stones how you will likely see them!
