Herkimer Quartz 'Diamond' specimens
Small Quartz crystals from Herkimer, New York, which are given the trade name 'Herkimer Diamonds'.
It should be made very clear that these are Quartz and not Diamonds in any way. Due to their tendency to be extremely clear, and to form into unusual crystalline shapes, these are very popular with collectors.
They often have dual terminations - that is a Quartz point with a 'point' at each end; but not every time.
Our current stock includes:
- #1 - 29x28x19.5MM. Nice clear piece with plenty of unusual shapes; some unidentified inclusions.
- #2 - a 20.3x17.5x15.5MM piece with one termination, still sitting on some of its original matrix. Not technically a Herkimer Diamond, as it is not dual terminated. Interesting striations on the crystals.
