A range of specimens of Hematite from the Goose Green Mine, part of the West Cumberland Iron Field.

These specimens were collected in 1978 by Roy Starkey, a prominent British mineralogist, and do come with his identification label.

The labels are in reasonable condition but I've encased them in clear plastic for its protection - can be removed from this easy enough.

#1 - 42.5x30.4x13MM - sparkling Hematite crystals on an iron stained Quartz matrix. The pieces of Hematite themselves measure up to 5MM approximately.
#2 - 32.4x20.8x17.2MM - a nice specimen of botryoidal Hematite. Has a fairly flat bottom for display. Often known as ‘Kidney Ore’.
#3 - 35.35x33x22.9MM - a dark grey-brown piece with small areas of botryoidal Hematite. Surprisingly bright red in certain lights.
