Tsavorite Garnet Specimens
We sell two quality grades of Tsavorite currently; a lower grade for collectors, and a higher grade that may be suitable for collectors or for cutting.
Currently, the photos on this page only show the lower grade – sorry!
Of the higher quality grade pieces, most measure around 4-10MM each; they are suitable for small scale lapidary projects including inlay. An experienced lapidarist may be able to facet some or cut some small cabochons.
The higher grade comes in a five carat box, which typically contains between 3 and 6 pieces, measuring 3-5MM each.
Garnet is a fairly hard gemstone – these pieces can certainly be cut and polished, though. We have cut one with a Dremel cutoff tool, and polished some using a lapidary grinder – just make sure to work them wet.
The pictures you see here are representative of the products and are usually not the exact item you will receive. Where various grades are available we do try to photograph each grade – but some photographs are still on their way!
