Galena, Sphalerite, and Chalcopyrite specimens
Interesting combination pieces, a mess of crystals consisting of galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, and often pyrite, calcite and quartz.
These pieces are all from the Rhodope Mountains ore field, a huge field which produces excellent specimens of Galena and Sphalerite. The most prolific area is the region around the town of Madan, Bulgaria.
While galena is toxic, it is relatively safe to handle - just simply wash your hands after handling these specimens, always good practice with minerals!
