Fluorite from Moscona Mine, El Pontón de Solís, Corvera de Asturias, Asturias, Spain
Unusual Fluorite specimens from the Moscona Mine, a well known mine amongst fluorite collectors - it produces fine baryte, fluorite, dolomite and galena, as well as several other mineral species.
Some of this material could perhaps be described as 'root beer' fluorite.
We currently have the following pieces in stock:
- #1 - 31.1x30.9x18.8MM - this piece isn't huge, it isn't the best colour, or the best shape, but what it does have is an extremely unusual fluorescence under long wave 365nm UV light. It is almost a yellow-blue-white along the edges of the crystals, not something I've seen in other fluorites.
- #2 - 30x21.9x14.5MM - a small piece with well defined crystals. Light white-purple fluorescence, not quite as nice as the other piece but still interesting!
