Corundum in matrix
Specimen pieces of Corundum crystals sitting in their original host rock.
Our current stock includes:
- Various specimens from the Kleggåsen Ruby Quarry, Aust-Agder, Norway. These are of a very pale colour and are probably best referred to as corundum rather than ruby. They are typically not fluorescent, although other specimens from this locale are - these pieces have a biotite and albite matrix with an unknown green fluorescent mineral present in small areas of some specimens.
- Various specimens from an unknown locale, Madagascar. The crystals are a light pink but are highly fluorescent under UV light.
