Blue John Doublet Cabochons

Gorgeous dark blue and purple doublet cabochons cut from Blue John Fluorite. These cabochons are sold singly, but we do offer discounts for bulk purchases.

Blue John is a rare variety of Fluorite found in Derbyshire, in the town of Castleton. The mines producing it simply aren't producing as much material as they used to, so it is getting rarer.

A doublet cabochon consists of two slices stuck together; in this case, it is a slice of Blue John with a clear domed piece protecting it.

These pieces are perfect for rings and necklaces or earrings. As a dark stone, these pieces can be set nicely in Silver, Gold, Platinum, Titanium, and other metals.
