Wedding Cave Mine

Brymbo, Wrexham, Wales, UK

A former lead mine in an old cave, which I constantly misread as “Wedding Cake Mine”.

The site is accessible but has unfortunately been completely trashed. It is filled with rubbish and graffiti, although there are some caving groups who litter pick the site. It is unlikely any mineral specimens can be found here anymore unless there are dumps in the area or further exploration takes place.

Mindat lists six minerals from the site, but there is only one we really need to pay attention to – Wedding Cave Mine is one of the UKs only known sources for carbonatecyanotrichtite.
