Pen-y-Clun mine

Llanidloes, Powys, Wales, UK

Pen-y-Clun is a former lead mine worked between 1845 and 1883.

The mine worked a branch of the Van Lode for galena and was later reworking to some extent for witherite.

The site was heavily collected from over the years and is now probably quite picked over, if any access to the site is actually available. The uncommon barium mineral harmotome was sometimes found at the site.

According to the CPAT writeup, numerous areas of the mine and buildings have been reclaimed and the buildings are in a poor state of repair.

A good writeup of the location is available in the further reading section below.
