Old Towns Quarry
Heighington, Darlington, England, UK
Old Towns Quarry is a former quarry which produced specimens of calcite, fluorite, and pyrite.

I was not able to find much information out about the mine/quarry – there are several others with very similar names that make searching a little tricky.
It sits near to the railway line running between Shildon and Newton Aycliffe, and the quarry was likely created as part of the construction of the railway, dating its origins to around 1825.
The 1900s OS map series at the National Library of Scotland marks the quarry as disused, meaning it was probably only worked for a maximum of 75 years.
It seems there is some access to the land, with a number of paths crossing the site visible via satellite maps.
