Hingston Down Quarry is an active aggregate quarry mining fine grained granite.

However, it also produces a broad variety of minerals, some of which are particularly nice.

Hingston Down Quarry produces a wide range of minerals including native bismuth, ferberite, cassiterite, molybdenite, arsenopyrite, scheelite, bertrandite, opal, arthurite, scorodite, mimetite, pharmacosiderite and other rare lead minerals.

It is a SSSI, a ‘site of special scientific interest’.
