West Wheal Jewel is a mine near St Day, which produced copper ores of various kinds.

It is also known as Tolcarne Mine, or North Wheal Damsel. It shouldn’t be confused with Wheal Jewel, another nearby mine.

West Wheal Jewel also produces several radioactive minerals – the copper uranate minerals Autunite and Torbernite, and the uranium oxide mineral Uranitite.

The mine was operated between 1832 and 1854.
