South Bedford Mine

Gulworthy, West Devon, Devon, England, UK

South Bedford Mine is a former copper mine on the east bank of the river Tamar.

South Bedford Mine is part of a collection of other mines, so the name may get a little confused over time – in fact, getting all of the names sorted out is a little confusing for me too.

Originally called Luscombe Mine, this mine was incorporated into the Bedford United mine set in 1841. It was considered too far away though, and incorporated in 1850 to the set known as East Gunnislake and South Bedford Mine. Other names include the South Gunnislake Mine and South Bedford Consols.
