High Down Quarry

West Buckland, North Devon, Devon, England, UK

High Down Quarry is an ancient abandoned quarry near the town of Barnstaple, which produced fine specimens of (and is the type locality for) Wavellite.

Showing the single result

There are numerous quarries in the area that produce fine, and extremely similar Wavellite specimens, and it can also be found by construction or digging nearby too, including another small quarry behind High Down cottages nearby – so it is reasonable to say that ‘High Down Quarry’ may not always be a precise locale, especially when dealing with older specimens.
