Emmelberg

Üdersdorf, Daun, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

An active quarry in the cone of a volcano. This was abandoned for years which allowed for collecting.

This site produced a range of minerals – Mindat lists 80 in total.

The quarry was abandoned for years which allowed for considerable amounts of collecting, but has since been reopened; it is probable no new specimens will come from this locale any time soon.

A very good (former) source of microminerals including some very nice specimens of topaz, corundum, pseudobrookite, etc.
