Drakelands Mine (formerly Hemerdon Mine)

Sparkwell, South Hams, Devon, England

Drakelands Mine is one of the UK’s only tungsten mines, near to Plymouth, Devon.

It produces fine Scorodite, Wolframite, Ferberite, and Cassiterite specimens.

It seems most of the material from Drakelands mine is now labelled as ferberite.

This mine has several given names, which are probably historical – including Hemerdon Tungsten Mine, Hemerdon Stock Works, Hemerdon Ball, Hemerdon Bal.

The mine was operated as recently as 2015, with the owner looking for additional investment for further exploration and mining. This means it is unlikely any visits will be permitted.
