Cwmystwyth Mine
Cwmystwyth, Upper Llanfihangell-y-Creuddyn, Ceredigion, Wales
Cwmystwyth Mine is a historic lead mine in the Ceredigion region of Wales. It has been worked off and on for a great number of years, with the earliest evidence suggesting early Bronze Age mining at the site.

Cwmystwyth Mine is a scheduled monument due to its history of mining, and due to the bronze age archaeology that has been found there, including the Banc Tynddol sun-disc, a gold ornament dated to 2450-2150 BCE.
There is evidence of sporadic mining throughout a great deal of history – bronze Age, Roman, early Medieval, with written records of the working found in 1537, and a history of the mine owners available from 1704, found at the NMRS link below.
Mindat lists 32 minerals from the site, including some less common species alongside the ones we’d expect from a lead-zinc mine.
