Craig Rhiwarth Mine
Llangynog, Powys, Wales, UK
A mine on Craig Rhiwarth, quite tricky to narrow down unfortunately.
Showing the single result
There are several old mines on Craig Rhiwarth, including the well known Craig Rhiwarth slate quarries.
The Mindat locale suggests the mine is under a caravan park, but I can find no evidence on NLS old maps of a mine being in this spot.
Buddlepit suggests the site is a few hundred feet further up, and I am inclined to agree with this.
Buddlepit also suggests the site was worked between 1656 and 1895.
The site produces a range of copper and zinc minerals, as well as some basics – quartz, calcite, etc.
