Boltsburn Mine

Rookhope, Stanhope, County Durham, England, UK

A historic lead and fluorspar mine in the Weardale mining area which closed in around 1931.

Showing the single result

The mine produced some excellent specimens of fluorite, in my opinion some of the best in the country if not the world.

Mindat has an excellent writeup on some of the fluorites from the area.

The site has also been investigated for mining of iron ore, probably as marcasite, pyrite or siderite.
