Abercynon Colliery

Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, UK

A former colliery (coal mine) in Abercynon, South Wales. It was operated between 1889 and 1988.

In 1975 the colliery was merged with the Lady Windsort colliery. Both collieries were then closed in 1988.

There is very little evidence of mineralisation in the colliery with regards to mineral specimens – I have found a single piece labelled as being from this site.
